Hi everyone
Firstly we would like to tell you about some forthcoming competitions at Five Lakes:
This week-end sees the annual Alan Riches Memorial Trophy in memory of a great captain and president of our golf club who left us so prematurely, this competition is is open to all sections of the golf club.
Next week Saturday 17th May sees the Secretary's Trophy if anyone wishes to enter this competition please either email me or the pro shop at [email protected] or call 01621 862326 and ask Andy to enter you on the entry sheet on the main notice board.
There is a Wednesday medal on the 21st May for all of you to enjoy.
We have further team competitions scheduled for the forthcoming weeks, The Jubilee Cup away to Royal Epping Golf Club Saturday 31st May if you wish to be considered please contact Nigel Popper 07711 817266.
Norman Plum Trophy, Clive Jenner is looking for players to play home and away against North Weald GC next Tuesday 14th May please contact Clive Jenner 01206 383671.
Our next round of the Leslie Wood at home to Thorpe Hall GC Sunday 11th May.
The next round of the Curry Cup is away to Stoke by Nayland Golf Club Saturday 28th June, please contact me if you wish to be considered, I am looking for 10 to 14 and 5 to 9 handicappers to play in this 36 hole event.
The greens committee met with Peter Smith the course manager and Ian Cullen the hotel General Manager to discuss the progress of the course Tuesday evening. We are assured you will see a considerable improvement on the fairways, greens and bunkers in the coming weeks due to the additional work being carried by the hard working green staff.
Currently the upstairs club bar is being opened on both Saturday and Sundays its important that we use this facility to the maximum. Can you please ensure when you come in from playing golf at the week-ends you order your drinks and food from the club bar and not the Sports bar. If we do not use this facility we will lose it.
Over the past few weeks I have held several meeting with the hotel marketing team concerning the golf club website; www.cpcolchester.co.uk/golf We are making improvements to the format and golf club/course information as well as the Facebook and Twitter feeds.
Please check these out periodically
I look forward to seeing you all out on the golf course shortly.
